YCAM Film Factory vol.4
New Movie by Sho Miyake
2017 — 2018
Director and YCAM InterLab collaborate
In volume four of the project dedicated to the making of new movies produced by YCAM, director Sho Miyake creates and eventually unveils his latest work.
Known for his feature-length film dramas ”Good For Nothing (Yakutatazu)” (2010) and “Playback” (2012), in recent years director Sho Miyake has been expanding the scope of his activities, producing the documentary movie ”Experience in Material No. 58 / A Return Of Bruno Taut 2016” (2016, co-directed with Ryoji Suzuki) about architect Ryoji Suzuki’s work, as well as ”THE COCKPIT” (2015), capturing the process of rapper OMSB and his friends as they create a new song together in an apartment room.
As part of their long-term collaboration, in this project Sho Miyake and the YCAM InterLab produce and show a new feature-length film revolving around the central theme of reexamining the essence of the “movie” medium today, while exploring future possibilities.
Recent and Upcoming
In 2017, after finalizing the movie’s concept and scenario while at once implementing workshops together with the YCAM InterLab, shootings are scheduled to start at YCAM. Once the final editing is done, the finished movie will be unveiled at film festivals in Japan and abroad in 2018 and beyond.
