YCAM Film Factory vol.3
New Movie by Shota Sometani
2016 — 2017
Film Director Shota Sometani
In volume three of the project dedicated to the making of new movies produced by YCAM, actor and film director Shota Sometani creates and eventually unveils his latest work.
Known for starring in such movies as ”Himizu” (2011) and “Kiseiju (Parasyte)” (2014), Shota Sometani is one of the most prominent young Japanese actors who in 2011 was the first ever Japanese to win an award for best emerging actor at the Venice International Film Festival. At the same time he is active also as a director, having so far produced the two short films ”Similar But Different” (2013) and “Kiyosumi” (2015).
Based on this project’s central theme of exposing the relationship between acting and directing that tends to be a matter of black box policy in film production, for the new movie he directs this time Sometani draws on his experience as a filmmaker and proficient actor at the same time.
Recent and Upcoming
After dedicating some time to location hunting and script writing, and eventually shooting for about one week mainly inside the YCAM building, editing and post-production were mostly done in 2016.
