RADLOCAL Practice vol.1
Eating and the Food Ecosystem
2018 —
Eat, consider, appreciate the taste
The first step has been taken in a project aimed at developing leaders of the local community through activities that create new value to living in the area. That is, we will be opening "Studio D," a restaurant area within the Center.
Hidden in the background behind almost every meal that we eat are not only a variety of foods, ingredients, and cooking methods but complex production and manufacturing processes, distribution systems, and the like. Although some restaurants and supermarkets are making efforts to disclose such invisible information, a link between our food-consumining society, economic dynamics, and the allure of cooking has not yet been developed. In this food-based project, which will include outside collaborators and the application of media technology, design, and the kitchen, we hope to illustrate the extensive connection that food has to our bodies and to society as a whole. We further hope to construct a new platform for community life.
Recent and Upcoming
In 2018 the restaurant area within the Center will be remodeled and Studio D will open. In addition to regular sales of hamburgers, goods, and other items, we will develop content that will enable people to understand the food manufacturing process and flow of money from user to producer. We also plan to hold workshops and other events, and invite chefs and researchers who are engaged in pioneering efforts involving food.
