Audio Base Camp #2

This is a listening event for visitors to enjoy high-quality and high-volume playbacks of audio recordings such as CDs and vinyl records.

For Audio Base Camp, large, high-quality speakers for use at live concerts, are set up at YCAM’s own Studio A, reputed as boasting one of the best acoustic environments in Japan. Following last year’s first installment of events featuring audio recordings selected based on specific themes, this is voilume two in the series.

Supervised by artist and sound engineer Makoto Oshiro, the event features researchers, artists, musicians and othe rexperts who present selections of audio recordings including their own compositions, and various other material along such themes as “field recording” or “ambient music.” Also on the program are appearances by DJs – some of the biggest “connoisseur” with the most profound knowledge when it comes to vinyl records.

As an opportunity for listening to music while immersing in an exquisite yet overwhelmingly powerful high-volume soundscape, this event takes visitors on a journey deep into the sonic world of audio recordings, while at once inspiring them to reconsider the act of “hearing/listening” as an essential human activity.
