ART TEMPO RALLY

Artists associated with Yamaguchi exhibit their works in the city!
Introduced in this exhibition series are works by three artists wioth connections to Yamaguchi, displayed at shops in the central shopping district of Yamaguchi City. The event is part of the “Yamaguchi Art Communicator Program 2023,” a program for training art and education-related personnel.
Participants in “ART TEMPO RALLY” are an artist who was born and is presently still based in Yamaguchi City, one who has previously won the Yamaguchi Emerging Artists Award, and one who exhibited works in the same shopping district ten years ago. Each being connected or associated with Yamaguchi in a different way, they present works across a variety of styles and formats, ranging from two-dimensional works to art projects, at a total of seven shops in the central shopping district of Yamaguchi City.
Particularly characteristic about these exhibitions is that they are planned and realized by a group of local citizens with an interest in art, who previously participated in the “Yamaguchi Art Communicator Program” (and are now referred to as “Yamaguchi Art Communicators”).
The Yamaguchi Art Communicators teamed up with each of the three artists, and while accompanying them during the creation pocess, planned these exhibitions as ways of connecting the created works to the shop owners and the locals who usually do their daily shopping in the district. With this entire process in mind, in order to create not only opportunities for showing/appreciating works of art, but also for facilitating a deeper understanding of artworks, the event also offers a gallery tour as a related event for a rather multilateral and profound appreciation of the works on display.
