In 2011, artist and engineer Julian Oliver, Gordan Savicic, and Danja Vasiliev published the "Critical Engineering Manifesto". With this manifesto at its core, Sara Grant, Bengt Sjolen, and Joana Moll joined the group and formed a "Critical Engineering Working Group". This manifesto which begins with "The Critical Engineer considers Engineering to be the most transformative language of our time, shaping the way we move, communicate and think" brings many insights into the specifications of critical engineering.
