In the completely darkened venue, 8 monitors and 16 speakers are arranged in a straight line. The sound that is audible from the speakers cuts sharply through the exhibition space, and is instantly and continuously translated into pattern images of orderly black and white lines. Synchronized with the sounds from the speakers, the images on the monitors keep transforming in a vivid manner at a speed of several hundred frames per second.
These sounds and images demand output testing of the playback devices that make up the installation, and function at once as signals that suggest the viewer to test his own senses.
Testing the capacities of playback devices and human senses
This audio-visual installation consists of visual patterns created/converted from sound in real-time.
